100 to 174 Horse Power

The tractor is an important component to successful farming. They are generally broken down into horsepower ranges and uses. Lawn Tractors with 4 - 37 hp. Sub and Compact Tractors from 20 - 40 hp. Row-crop Tractors usually range from 40 - 400 hp. Four Wheel Drive and Track Tractors may range from 400 - 600 hp. Utility Tractors are bare-bones no-frills hard working machines. Specialty Tractors amongst others would include Orchard Tractors and Scraper Tractors.  This farm vehicle provides the command and traction to industrialize a wide variety of agricultural tasks, including tillage and other implements. Agricultural equipment may either be towed behind or mounted on the tractor; if needed, the tractor might also be a source of power if the attachment is mechanized.

Tractor Attachments

  • Aerators

    • Use of an aerator and the dethatching attachment is highly valuable as it allows for the aerating, dethatching, overseeding and fertilizing in once-over operation, to get the job done quicker and better.

  • Cultivators

    • Pulls weeds in a single pass of the tractor.

  • Disc Harrows

    • Disc harrows break up ground to ease planting.

  • Discbines

    • A series of disc’s with knives are used on a cutterbar to cut crops either by itself or in conjunction with a conditioner using a set of rollers to crush the crop allowing for faster dry down. These mowers are often from 9 to 15 feet wide.

  • Haybines

    • An oscillating sickle bar cuts the hay and a roller system crushes the crop allowing for faster dry down. These mowers are often from 7 to 18 feet wide.

  • Fertilizer and Lime Spreaders

    • Effectively spread fertilizer, lime,  and other materials.

  • Rakes

    • Rake hay, straw or corn fodder while operating at high ground speeds with maximum raking efficiency. Most often done with a wheel or roller bar design.

  • Loader Buckets

    • Clear debris from your path or transport necessary items from one place to another.

  • Manure Spreaders

    • Tank Spreaders

    • Box Spreaders

  • Mergers

    • Combine multiple rake swaths into one for more efficient field harvester pickup

  • Rotary Cutters

    • Clear brush from overgrown land efficiently with a rotary brush cutter.

  • Rotary Tillers

    • Use for seedbed preparation, weed control, fertilizing preparation or general soil conditioning.

  • Tackifier Seeder

    • Tacking over hydro-seed or straw, seeding pre-mixed seed and fertilizer.

  • Tedder

    • Used to aerate or fluff the hay especially after a rain or when the hay needs to dry faster after cutting but before windrowing the crop.

Tractor Winterization Tips

  • Check chain tanks, final drives and gearboxes for water

  • Add fuel conditioner

  • Check fuel filter

  • Check cold start aids

  • Check block heater

  • Inspect air pre-cleaners

  • Check battery and connections

Winter Storage Tips

  • If possible, drain fuel tank

  • Run the engine after cleaning

  • Clean and fully charge batteries

  • Start machines once a month, when temperature is above freezing

Equipment Maintenance Tips

  • Check hoses, fittings, and seals to see if they are in good condition

  • Check the engine’s oil and coolant; other fluids

  • Check filters and replace as needed

  • Clean radiator screen if equipped

  • Ensure all tires, wheels, and wheel bearings are ready for use and properly inflated

  • Inspect the battery for signs of corrosions or if it needs replaced

  • Make sure all lights, signals and hazards are working properly, and hardware for loose or missing pieces
