Tips for a Healthy Lawn

·         Mow lawn about 3 inches high. Grass will be mowed more often in the spring as it tends to grow faster, and will be mowed less frequently in the summer as it usually grows slower

·         In spring or fall, aerate the lawn to improve the quality of the soil, diminish soil compaction and to help the grass absorb water and nutrients more proficiently

·         Fertilize the grass while it’s actively growing

·         Stay on top of weeds by using products that prevent them from growing and killing present ones.

·         Water the lawn during periods of hot, dry weather. Lawns need about an inch of water every week to keep its green color. Without adequate water, the lawn will turn brown within four to six weeks

Tips for Maintaining Your Lawn Mower during Mowing Season

·         Check tires before each use

·         Replace or clean air filter

·         Clear obstacles from your path

·         Remove old clippings from beneath the deck

·         Remove grass and debris from a gas engine’s cooling fins, engine covers, and air-intake screens after each use to avoid engine overheating

·         For a mower with a manual engine-speed control, be sure to properly adjust it

·         Regularly check belts/chain drives for wear and tightness
